Mo Septic tank grant/loan program

Because of rapid population growth in Southwest Missouri and Northwest Arkansas, many people are locating to areas which are not served by municipal sewers. Wastewater treatment is done through the use of septic systems. Considering that regional soils are generally rocky and thin, conventional septic systems consisting of a septic tank and drain field are often ineffective and can pose a water quality hazard.

In addition, when not maintained, even a functioning septic system can eventually fail and leach contaminants into the ground and directly into water sources. H 2Ozarks has therefore focused on providing resources and information to our communities for replacement of old, failing septic systems and to promote proper maintenance of existing systems.



As of March 2021, a septic grant and loan program has launched in northwest Arkansas for the Beaver Reservoir Watershed.

H2Ozarks is now relying solely on loan payments received from previous recipients to remediate failing septic systems. This means we are only able to remediate systems one at a time, and the time frame to get to your project will be delayed. To be designated as a Clean Marina, enrolled marinas must meet all mandatory items and 40% of applicable points and complete a post-survey checklist, working with the Program Coordinator.

*At time of designation marina will receive program recognition to include: signage, flags, educational materials, status updated to “Designated” and a press release announcing designation.
