W.A.T.E.R. Program: Watershed Aid To Educators Resource. Bring hands-on water education to your classroom for free!

This program is available to educators in Barry or Stone County, Missouri. (if you are not located in these counties but are interested in this program, please contact us as we may be able to provide other resources). H2Ozarks provides educational resources and lesson plans for teachers to educate students about water science. We can provide an interactive 3D EnviroScape® Watershed Model table. This dynamic tool helps students visualize how everyday actions affect our local waterways and discover how they can make a difference in protecting them.

What Is the Watershed Model?

The 3D EnviroScape® Watershed Model is an engaging, tabletop demonstration that brings water science to life. Students can watch in real time as “rain” carries pollutants like soil, fertilizer, and oil through miniature neighborhoods, farms, and construction sites. This demonstrates how stormwater runoff impacts rivers, lakes, and groundwater.

This hands-on model helps connect classroom lessons to real-world challenges, sparks curiosity about how water moves through our environment, and starts conversations about what we can do to reduce pollution.

What Students Will Learn:

The model is adaptable for all grade levels, from elementary through high school. Using the watershed table, students can:

  • Observe how pollution travels through a watershed.
  • Identify common sources of water pollution such as agriculture, construction, and residential runoff.
  • Explore solutions for reducing stormwater impacts and protecting water quality.
  • Discuss how local actions contribute to healthier communities and ecosystems.

Whether you’re teaching natural science, biology, or geography, this interactive model complements your curriculum and helps meet Missouri Learning Standards in science and environmental literacy.

How the Program Works:

Teachers in Barry or Stone County can reserve the watershed model for up to 10 days (two consecutive school weeks) at no cost. H2Ozarks staff will deliver the model to your school between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM, and we’re happy to assist with setup or classroom presentation.

You can choose one of three levels of support:

  • Delivery & Setup: We bring the model, set it up, and pick it up after your reservation period.
  • Classroom Demonstration: An H2Ozarks educator leads the lesson for your students.
  • Teacher-Led Instruction: You take the lead, using our provided lesson materials and activity guides.

(Please allow about two hours for full setup, demonstration, and cleanup if you choose to have our staff present.)

How to Reserve

Please fill out the reservation request below. After your submission, an H2Ozarks staff member will contact you to confirm availability and coordinate delivery.

By participating in the W.A.T.E.R. Program, you’re giving students a deeper understanding of how their choices affect the environment and empowering them to be part of the solution. Together, we can help young learners appreciate the importance of clean water and healthy watersheds across the Ozarks.

This program is made possible through grants from the Table Rock Lake Community Foundation of the Ozarks and the Table Rock Lake Rotary Club.
