About the Plan
H2Ozarks has partnered with the Ozarks Environmental and Water Resources Institute (OEWRI) at Missouri State University to develop this watershed management plan for Table Rock Lake. While the lake is a beloved and highly visited waterbody, Table Rock Lake faces growing water quality challenges from nutrient pollution, sedimentation, and the pressures of rapid urban development. This plan will identify priority water quality concerns and outline voluntary best management practices to reduce pollution and protect the lake for the long term. Upon completion, the plan will be submitted to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for approval and will serve as a roadmap for restoration and protection efforts. The accepted plan is also a vehicle for pursuing grant funding to implement its recommendations. Learn more about the Table Rock Lake watershed management plan.
Why Your Input Matters
Public and stakeholder engagement is a cornerstone of the planning process. We believe the most effective water quality solutions come from the communities who live, work, and play in the watershed — and that means we need to hear from a wide range of voices, including yours.
Your participation will help ensure the plan:
- Reflects the real needs and priorities of the communities it is designed to serve
- Incorporates local knowledge and on-the-ground experience
- Builds the broad public support needed for successful implementation
Do I need to be an expert to give feedback?
Not at all! While the plan does contain some technical information, you don’t need a background in water quality or environmental science to provide meaningful input. If you’re a resident, a business owner, a farmer, an angler, or simply someone who loves spending time on Table Rock Lake, you know this watershed better than anyone. Your local knowledge and lived experience are vital to ensure this plan reflects the needs and priorities of the communities it is designed to serve. We want to hear what matters most to you about Table Rock Lake and what you’d like to see protected or improved. While the plan is lengthy, we encourage you to choose a section or two that is most interesting to you personally, and focus your feedback in that area.
Why does this plan matter?
A completed and EPA-approved watershed management plan can open the door to funding opportunities. It gives communities, local governments, and conservation organizations a shared roadmap for protecting water quality, and it unlocks eligibility for federal and state grant funding to actually implement those solutions on the ground. Without a plan, many of those funding opportunities aren’t available. By participating in the development of this plan today, you help lay the foundation for future investment to protect our beloved natural resources! Learn more about watershed management plans.
